Giuliana Poveda (PER), Katherine Valli (USA) and Vitor Tavares (BRA) won medals at FZ FORZA Irish Para badminton International 2019, held in Dublin, Ireland, from June 19 to 23.
Peru’s Giuliana Poveda, BWF Ranking number 1 in SS6, and Katherine Valli (USA) won 2 gold medals each.
In Singles, Giuliana defeated Katherine Valli in the final and reached gold, improving the silver medal obtained in the previous edition after falling to Rebecca Bedford (ENG) whom Giuliana won this time in semifinals by 21-11 and 21 -14.
Katherine Valli added her second gold medal in Mixed Doubles where, along with Nagar Krishna (IND), won in Group B and managed to outperform seeded one duo Laing (SCO) / Bedford (ENG) in the final (21-19, 21-18).
Brazil’s Vitor Tavares also took the podium in Mixed Doubles. Vitor, accompanied by Oliwia Smigiel reached the semifinals but could not beat the seeded one duo and got the bronze medal.
