My Goal Is to Get More People to Know Badminton – Andrea Guerrero

Former badminton player and current Mexican coach, Andrea Guerrero , is constantly striving to convince more people to know badminton, practice it and understand the benefits that our sport can provide both in its recreational practice and in high performance.

Andrea has a degree in sports with a specialty in badminton, and she works as a coach of badminton and parabadminton, promoting our sport and allowing more people to discover the benefits of badminton.

“I started as a player in 2004, I participated in national and international tournaments until 2011, then I began to study the career to be a coach and I am currently a coach in some schools and in CODE Jalisco.”

Andrea has directed the Mexico Para badminton Team in international tournaments, being able to visit several countries and contributing to the development of athletes. He has lived different experiences around sports and discovered new things that have fueled her professional career.

“The best thing that badminton has given me is all the people I have known and learned a lot from. It has also given me the opportunity to influence children, to give them the opportunity to learn everything that badminton can teach us. ”

Para badminton in Mexico is a great interest of Andrea. Among its objectives is to be able to have a large national team, where the level can continue to increase and compete in international events.

“My goal is to get more people to know and be able to practice badminton. And to make parabadminton nationally accepted, that more states are interested in being part of inclusion and forming a bigger team than in other countries to continue participating in international tournaments.”

Our sport is not very popular in Mexico, however, Andrea strives to continue spreading it and would like more people to get to know badminton and Para badminton.

“In Mexico, badminton is not as booming as soccer or other sports. It has been a little difficult to convince people to give themselves the opportunity to get to know badminton, to convince themselves that this sport also brings many benefits and that you can practice it both for recreation and high performance. ”

Many difficulties may arise along the way, but getting what you want requires effort to overcome those difficulties. The number of women involved in our sport continues to increase and Andrea encourages all those women who dream of belonging to sports.

“I would tell you that if your dream is to be linked in the sport regardless of the role you want to play in it, do not give up, we can also be great athletes or great coaches. If that is your dream, you have to fight to achieve it without mind what other people say. ”
