Peru International 2021 Winners

Pan Am Players from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Guatemala, México and Perú won the medals of the Peru International 2021, held last week in Lima, Peru.

Athletes from differents parts of the world met in Peru, from April 21 to 25, looking for the points they need to get closer to the Olympic Games Qualification.

Guatemala’s duo Jonathan Solis & Diana Corleto won the gold in Mixed Doubles after defeating Mexico’s Luis Montoya & Vanessa Villalobos in 2 games. Santiago De La Oliva/Ines Mendoza (PER) and Sebastian Martinez/Miriam Rodriguez (MEX) won the bronze medals of this /event.

Diana Corleto won another gold medal in Women’s Doubles event, where, along with Nikte Sotomayor. Alejandra y Mariana Paiz won the silver and the 3/4 positions were for Micaela Castillo/Micaela Flores (PER) and Ailen Oliva/Iona Gualdi (ARG).

Jonathan Solis also reached the podium in Men’s Doubles, winning the silver medal along with Anibal Marroquin. They reached the final after defeating duos from Peru and Algeria. Ruben Castellanos and Christopher Martinez (GUA) won the bronce  medal in this event.

Brian Yang won the crown in Singles, after defeating Kevin Cordon (GUA) in the Semi-Final, Brian took down 2019 Pan Am Games Champion, Ygor Coelho (BRA) in the final.

In Women’s Singles, Haramara Gaitan reached the podium after defeating players from Peru and Dominican Republic but losing in Semifinals against Laura Sarosi, champion of this event.

This tournament could be carried out following sanitary measures and security protocols due to the current pandemic that the world is going through, guaranteeing and prioritizing the health of athletes, coaches and all the people involved in the tournament.
