Pan Am players from Canada, Peru and Guatemala won gold medals at El Salvador International 2018, held in San Salvador from December 5 to 9. Also, athletes from Brazil, El Salvador and Costa Rica were on the podiums.

Our Youth Olympic Athlete, Brian Yang (CAN) won two gold medals. Brian faced Heymard Humblers (GUA) in Single’s final match and after 54 minutes of play he managed to beat him by 21-11, 18-21 and 21-16. Christopher Martinez (GUA) and Fabio Caponio (ITA) completed podium.
Yang with Catherine Choi (CAN) won the Mixed Doubles final against Anibal Marroquin (GUA) and Danica Nishimura (PER) in the last match of the final day. Bronze medals were to Brandon Alavardo / Alejandra Paiz (GUA) and Gianpiero Cavallotti / Lauren Villalobos (CRC).
Peru’s Daniela Macias also won 2 gold medals. First, Macias was again in a Final with Fabiana Silva (BRA) and this time the victory was for the Peruvian 21-16 and 21-14. Nikte Sotomayor (GUA) and Catherine Choi (CAN) won the bronze medals.
In addition, Daniela Macias and Danica Nishimura returned to be champions in Women’s Doubles. Peruvian duo won the final against Nikte Sotomayor and Diana Corleto (GUA) by 21-18 and 21-14. Fatima Centeno / Katherine Lara (ESA) and Alejandra Paiz / Mariana Paiz took third place in this modality.
