Canada, Mexico and United States qualified to the Finals of the Badminton Pan Am Male & Female Cup 2020, Continental M&F Team Championships that is held in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.

Defending Champion started the day with a victory of Michelle Li against Fabiana Silva (BRA) in the Semifinals of the Female Competition. Li defeated Silva in 2 games, pointing the way for the finals. Brittney Tam did the same against Jackeline Luz, while Jacqueline Chung sealed the tie (3-0) against Jeisiane Alves.
On other court, Mexico and USA fighted for the spot on the finals, and Natalie Chi, Esther Shi and Sanchita Pandey gave the victory (3-0) to USA after defeating Haramara Gaitan, Sabrina Solis and Jessica Bautista respectively.
Canada also reached Finals in Male Competition after defeating Guatemala (3-1) and will face Mexico for the Cup.
Guatemala’s Kevin Cordon won the first match against Jason Ho-Shue, but Brian Yang and Antonio Li won their matches against Ruben Castellanos and Christopher Martinez, respectively, and Joshua Hurlburt-Yu and Nyl Yakura sealed the victory (3-1) in the first Doubles Match against Jonathan Solis /Anival Marroquin.
Mexico defeated USA (3-1) in an exciting tie. Lino Muñoz added the first point for his country after defeating Howard Shu, but Job Castillo lost against Timothy Lam in a 3 games match. Luis Montoya defeated the experienced Sattawat Pongnairat in a tough match, and Montoya with Andres Lopez sealed the tie after a victory against Phillip Chew & Ryan Chew in straight games.
Bronze Matches
On the last session of the day, the third place of each evet was defined.
USA Team defeated Guatemala in the Male Competition by 3-0, while Brazil did the same against Mexico in the Female Competition.
Also, Peru and Guatemala faced for the 5th place in Female competition, being Peru the winner (3-0).
For the first time in history of Badminton Pan Am Male and Female Championships, a Cup will be deliver for the winner of each event. Cups inspired by the subtlety of the shuttle, symbol of our sport, and represent the colors of our confederation.
