“I Hope to Achieve Represent My Country at Tokyo 2020” – Fabiana Da Silva

Medalist at Pan Am Games 2019, Fabiana Da Silva, Brazilian star that want to reach a quota for the Olympic Games 2020 and be a coach for the development of our sport in her country.

Fabiana is a teacher of Physical Education in schools, clubs and gyms and in the future she would also like to be a badminton coach. She met our sport on the beach, when she practiced another sport.

“My relationship with badminton started when I was 12. Before I knew badminton, I used to practice sailing and on days when there was no wind to sail, I played badminton on the beach just for fun until I left sailing and started training. badminton.”

As an athlete, Fabiana was able to enjoy benefits that helped her in her academic life, that is how she was able to complete her studies. That is one of the best things that sport has allowed her to experience.

“The sport gave me several opportunities and one of them was to finish university with a scholarship. I have also been able to get to know different cultures, countries and friends. I could mention many more things, but those are the main ones.”

Badminton in Brazil has grown in popularity and thanks to the results achieved by athletes like Fabiana, many more people have been able to meet it, however, it is not yet so popular and that is something that Fabiana would like to contribute to. In addition, of course, to be able to represent her country in the next Olympic Games, as a personal goal, the dream of every athlete.

“My goals with badminton in my country are to be able to help in the development of this sport. To represent Brazil in the best possible way and to get more investment for badminton, and also to be an example for new generations. In addition, I hope to achieve represent my country at Tokyo 2020.”

Difficulties in life help us learn and see options to overcome them. Effort is necessary when something is to be achieved and in Fabiana’s career, effort has been fundamental to be able to overcome any problem she has had to face.

“Lack of support and investment are always the biggest problems when starting the career. Today we have more investment in badminton in Brazil but I think that the lack of sponsors is still a problem not only for me, but for many athletes.”

Fabiana, 31, has achieved many of her goals through constant effort and she wants to encourage women to continue fighting for their dreams.

“I would say, don’t be afraid! Don’t be afraid to start very soon or very early, what defines us is not the time or the place where we started, but our resilience, our attitudes and our courage to conquer our space and pursue our dreams. ”
