Junior Champions in Brazil

Athletes from Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Venezuela won medals at Brazil Junior International 2019.

Last weekend, the city of Americana in Brazil received badminton junior players from Argentina, Paraguay, Venezuela and host Brazil at the Brazil International Junior 2019 tournament held from March 28 to 30.

Willian Guimaraes, Champion U17 at Pan Am Junior 2018, won triple crown this time. First, he beat Nicolás Oliva (ARG) in Singles final. In Doubles, along with Rafael Faria, they repeated what they had achieved in the Pan Am Junior 2018 and, finally, in Mixed Doubles, Willian and Sania Lima beat the Argentine duo Mateo Maira / Iona Gualdi to reach a new gold for Brazil.

Our Youth Olympic athlete Jaqueline Lima won gold in Singles after beat Tamires Santos, and gold in Doubles, along with Sania Lima, after beat brazilian duo Luana Capuli / Munnyk Laia.

Argentine athletes won 2 silver and 3 bronze medals in this tournament, demonstrating the growing development of our sport in their country. In addition, Venezuela and Paraguay also managed to get on the podium in Women’s Doubles and Men’s Doubles respectively.

Now, our junior athletes dream big and will continue to prepare for future international challenges such as the Pan Am Junior Championships 2019 to be held in Moncton, Canada, next july.
