Pan Am Players from Canada, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico and United States won medals at the VIII Guatemala International Series 2022, held in Guatemala City from September 27 to October 2.

Vanessa Gacia (MEX) got the silver after defeating Guatemala, Canada, and Olympian Nikte Sotomayor (GUA) but lost in the final against Hristomira Popovska (BUL). Locals Sotomayor and Alejandra Paiz won the bronze medals of the event.
In Singles, Uriel Canjura (ESA) won the silver medal after defeating players from Guatemala, USA, Italy and the Olympian Lino Muñoz (MEX) in Semifinals, but losing against Giovanni Toti in the final (22-20, 22-20). Muñoz and Bernardo Atilano (POR) reached the 3/4 places.
Local duos showed a great performance winning 2 golds, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals in this Pan Am Circuit event.
Jonathan Solis and Diana Corleto started the finals day with a victory against Christopher Martinez and Mariana Paiz (GUA) in Mixed Doubles. Both duos managed to win in Semifinals against Canadian pairs Colin Jia/Sharon Au and Ivan Li/Jeslyn Chow.
Solis also took the podium top in Men’s Doubles along with Anibal Marroquin. In the final, they defeated Ruben Castellanos/Christopher Martinez (GUA) in a tough 3-games-match. Jose Luis Granados/Antonio Ortiz (GUA) and William Hu/Jacon Zhang (USA) completed the podium.
Sharon Au and Jeslyn Chow (CAN) won the gold in Women’s Doubles after defeating players from Guatemala and El Salvador, including seeded 1 duo, Mariana and Alejandra Paiz, in Semifinals, and seeded 2 duo, Nikte Sotomayor and Diana Corleto, in the final. Bronze medals were for Rafaela Munar/ Fernanda Munar (PER) and Mariana Paiz/Alejandra Paiz (GUA).
The Pan Am Circuit 2022 will continue with the Peru International Series 2022.
