Recently champion at Peru International Series, Brazil International Series, South American Games and bronze medal at Cali 2021 Pan Am Junior Games, Juliana Viana Vieira, is the Brazilian athlete who is standing out with good matches and results.
“My dream is to have a name. Something that one builds. Not only get to the Olympics and win but do more than that, knowing that I was a good player both on and off the court, showing respect, humility, sympathy, I think that all of this contributes to being a good athlete.”
At only 17 years old, Juliana is already part of the adult team in Brazil and she is surprising with the results she has obtained.
“In 2020 I received my first call-up to represent Brazil in the Pan Am Male & Female Cup and train with the adult team. Being a junior, even receiving that call was very important to me. So I think many good things are yet to come.”
Juliana is very focused on her goals and shows it in every tournament. After training for a few years in Spain and making some sacrifices to focus on her dreams, Juliana continues to persevere and is already reaping the results she always wanted.
“Since I was little I decided to focus on sports and leave other things. I focused on responsibilities and always evolving. I lived in Spain for 4 years and made sacrifices that perhaps at that time did not have results but I built this little by little and today I have a much higher level and I am managing to compete at a high level. I hope to continue like this and reach the Olympic Games and the World Championship, with a very good level.”
“(Badminton) is something I love and I don’t have to make much effort to continue with it. Now I’ve been in badminton for almost 11 years,” says Juliana, who after practicing ballet and other sports excelled at badminton because she liked it from the beginning and enjoy each new challenge in our sport.
Always trying to keep her mind busy, Juliana enjoys reading and studying things that help her in her professional career.
“I always try to keep my mind busy so I take English courses, I practice Spanish and among other things. I really like reading and I try to keep my mind distracted so I don’t just keep thinking about badminton when I leave training.”
“I thank my parents because they supported me since I was little and they always support me in my trips and my decisions. If I am at the level I am at, it is because of them. I also thank the people who have been with me since I was little, my club , Marco for being called up to the Brazilian team, Ferraz, Norma, there are many names, my friends, my neighbors. They are all a family that contributed to where I am today.”
