The Chilean Federation of Badminton, through its program Shuttle Time, along with the support of the career of Physical Education, Sports and Recreation of the University of La Frontera, the National Institute of Sports of the Araucania Region, the Municipality of Lautaro and the Municipality of Temuco, came together to held the 1st National Badminton Shuttle Time Festival 2017.
The 1st Badminton School Festival was held at the facilities of the Bernardo O`Higgins Gymnasium in the city of Temuco and within the framework of the Integral Sports Schools program and the Shuttle Time Chile Program.
The event counted with the presence of 7 cities from different areas of the country, among them Antofagasta, Mostazal, Castro, Curacautín, Lonquimay, Victoria and Temuco.
To the event arrived about 100 athletes, parents and teachers from the 17 educational establishments that attended this sporting activity within the categories sub9, sub11, sub13, sub15 , where the Santa Elena de Curacautín School was highlighted as the winner in the male event.
The success of the event was achieved thanks to the collaboration and sponsorship of IND Araucania, the Sports Corporation of Temuco, the Municipality of Lautaro, the University of La Frontera and the Chilean Federation of Badminton.
Likewise, the management and organization of the festival was responsibility of the coordinator of the badminton sports area of Temuco, Professor of Physical Education at University la Frontera, and national coordinator of the Shuttle Time Chile Program, Esteban Fuentes Saavedra, who highlighted the role of the 3rd year University students who are studying the course of racket sports, which includes, for the second consecutive year, the Shuttle Time University Program. “They were responsible for making every detail of the festival works “- He said.
In the inauguration ceremony, Raimundo Lizama, President of the Chilean Federation of Badminton, said, “our goal as a Federation has always been to empower inicial schools the best possible and conclude all this development that has taken more than two years with a school badminton festival for young people which we are achieving step by step”.
Finally, Camilo Espinoza, regional Director IND Araucanía, said : “we developed this 1st Badminton Festival betting on a discipline that has had an important development in our region which undoubtedly reaffirms the relevance for us of the constant progress of this beautiful sport here in La Araucania.”
