USA players, Allison Lee & Francesca Corbett, won the silver medal at the BWF World Junior Championships 2023, held in Spokane, USA, been the first Pan Am players to achieve a World Junior medal in the Badminton History.
Lee & Corbett stood out throughout the World Junior Championships since the team event, where they contributed in each tie by winning all the matches they played.
In the Individual event, Lee & Corbett, who also have a Pan Am medal (Silver in 2021), defeated duos from Latvia, India, Denmark, Chinese Taipei, and Japan to reach the finals, where they lost in a tough match to Taguchi/Tamaki (JPN). by 21-12, 13-21, 21-15.
With 18 years old, Allison and Francesca, born in 2005, won the second world medal for the United States. Howard Bach and Tony Gunawan won the gold just 18 years ago in Anaheim 2005. For the USA, the home field benefits them, since they have won medals in the only two world events in which they have hosted (Anaheim 2005 and Spokane 2023).
The Award Ceremony of the event was led by Mr. Vishu Tolan, BWF Vice President for Pan Am, Mrs. Linda French, CEO of USA Badminton, Ben Yoneyama from YONEX Corporation, and a local authority.
