  1. At what age did you start in badminton and how did you get into this sport?

“I started playing conventional badminton at age 10, I had a problem in my birth and since I was diagnosed with the disease, doctors told my parents that I must do a lot of sport so they introduced me to badminton even in the veins for which I am very grateful. I have competed for 18 years in conventional badminton, 12 years ago I started playing para – badminton.”

  1. In how many tournaments did you participate and which were your best results?

“I have participated in more than 50 tournaments and my best result was to have been multiple times Pan American champion. I have been number one in the world 3 times.”

  1. To how many countries has badminton taken you?

“I think I have traveled to at least 30 countries.”

  1. What anecdotes come to your mind when you remember your trips?

“To have been pioneer in the Paralympic Badminton in America and be able to organize the Badminton World Championship in Guatemala.”

5. What are your short and medium term objectives as a badminton player?

“Be able to give my best in the challenges that are coming.”

  1. Do you perform other activities in parallel to your career as a badminton player, such as study or work?

“I work in the National Direction of Physical Education.”

  1. How sacrificed is it to train and work at the same time?

“It’s really very complicated, because I’m also married and I have two children, I also train disabled people in Guatemala and I know how difficult is to sacrifice important moments. Sometimes I would like to have the possibility of multiplying and being everywhere but it is impossible so I do my best to do my duty, anyway I feel that I am blessed for all this.”

8. How do you keep commitment and discipline in your life?

“Many things, be responsible, punctual, humble, supportive and above all, have passion in the things you do.”

  1. In addition to sporting satisfactions, what other things did badminton give you?

“In fact, it gave me so much, having friends around the world, opportunity to travel and meet incredible cultures and incredible people. To be part of a fact in the history of the badminton World.”

10. Which are your favorite hobbies?

“Being able to be with my children and wife is what I love, and play badminton.”

“José María Solis and Kevin Cordon.” 

  1. Which club do you represent?

“In Guatemala, I play for the Federation.” 

  1. Is para- badminton popular in your country?

“Now it is much more famous than when I was a child, I am looking together with the Federation to make it grow.”

  1. What message would you like to tell to those who follow this interview?

“If you seek, if you fight and take risks, you will surely find your goal and you will get it.”
