- At what age did you start in Badminton and how did you get into this sport?
“I started when I was 12 and it was because my mom knew the coach. One day she said to me: “or you do some sport or you will be punished” ….. so I decided to practice badminton “.
- In how many tournaments have you participated and which have been your best results?
“I have participated in 50 national and international tournaments, and my best result was to have won the gold medal in the Central American and Caribbean Games”.
- To how many countries has badminton taken you?
“I have traveled to 20 or 22 countries”.
- What anecdotes come to your mind when you remember your trips?
“I have missed flights many times. Once, in a tournament, I was playing doubles and lost control over a bad line call …. I threw my racket, and for this I got the yellow card”.
- Which are your short and medium term objectives as a badminton player?
“To start well the Olympic cycle then win the Bolivarian Games, and to be able to win the Pan-American games”.
6. Do you perform other activities in parallel to your career as an athlete, such us studies or work?
“I have just graduated in business administration”.
- How sacrificed is it to train and study at the same time?
“It was quite sacrificed since I had to do homework and study, had little time to be able to do everything and be on time to trainings …. there were semesters in which I had 8 courses, I still don’t know how I did it”.
- How do you keep the commitment and discipline in your life?
“Be humble, not underestimate the opponent, be responsible and have passion”.
- In addition to sporting satisfactions, what other things did badminton give you?
“Know many countries, very good friends and travel a lot”.
- Which are your favorite hobbies?
“Read horror novels”.

“Juan Antonio Granados”.
- Which club do you represent?
“We have no clubs, in Guatemala we have provincial teams or departments supported by the federation”.
- Is badminton popular in your country?
“Not much, but it is growing, we have a good number of players but we can´t compare with European countries”.
- Have you ever played in the Junior Pan Am Championships?
“I have participated a few times and I like it because you know the people you always compete with and it is a very nice experience.”
