Brian Yang is Back

Canada’s Brian Yang returns to his high level and, after winning a gold medal in Buenos Aires 2018, he added a new crown by winning the Slovenia Junior International 2018 to continue rising positions in the World Ranking.

With only 16 years old, Brian is the best junior ranked in our region, and he has represented his country in important international tournaments like the World Junior ChampionshipsThomas Cup and Youth Olympic Games.

Last July, Brian suffered an ankle injury that took him away from badminton for a few months and questioned his participation in the YOG 2018, however, a great recovery work allowed him to return to the badminton courts and expose his great badminton level in Buenos Aires.

Brian Shines Again

After winning gold at Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018 with Team Alpha, he competed in the Slovenia Junior International 2018 last weekend, getting the gold medal and returning to his best game.

“I decided to play this tournament because after a serious ankle injury in the summer, I was unable to play any tournaments and my ranking dropped by a lot. This tournament not only helped me climb back up the rankings, but also help me get used to the tournament environment again, in preparation for the World Junior Championships in November.”

Yang played this tournament as seeded 1 and defeated rivals from Austria, Italy and Serbia. Final match was the most demanding match, where he faced Enrico Baroni after 3 games by 21 – 19, 15-21 and 21-15.
