Venezuela Badminton Federation (FVBAD) held its first Shuttle Time Teachers Course in Caracas, Venezuela. This course marked the beginning of the Shuttle Time program as a tool for the diffusion of badminton in Venezuela’s schools.
Mrs. Dhayisbel Torrealba, FVBAD President , and Mr. Luis Montilla, Shuttle Time Venezuela coordinator, were in charge to share this course which took place from November 19 to 22 and, after theoretical and practical sessions, 55 participants approved the evaluations and are the new Shuttle Time Teachers in Venezuela.
Luis Montilla spoke with Badminton Pan Am and talked about the objectives of Venezuela Badminton Federation and what steps they take to continue with the development of our sport.
“We made a national call for this course and now we want to project ourselves in each state to achieve a course in each locality. We are very happy in how we are planning the badminton development and how we are concretizing, not only by proposing ideas but by making become reality.”
Participants of the I Shuttle Time Course in Venezuela are, in majority, physical education teachers who work in schools or school clubs, they already knew about the sport and now they have received the tools to be able to teach it to children thanks to the support of Venezuela Badminton Federation and Badminton Pan Am Confederation who give them Shuttle Time Kits for the course.
“To be able to implement a sport in Venezuela it is important that one arrives with a project, and we already have the tool that is the Shuttle Time program and that gives us an advantage because we are not going to start doing it from scratch, but there is already a base that is handled worldwide and that will allow us to reach the schools.”
Badminton development in Venezuela does not stop, Montilla is not only the Shuttle Time national coordinator, but also in charge of the administrative management of the Federation and hopes that the Venezuelan badminton will continue to grow.
“I received the Shuttle Time course in February, and that gave me the guidelines to convene, to integrate and give information. For the moment I am in this position and I would like that later on, when we are doing the courses, there are other people who can get involved. In order to expand the team. It is also an honor for me to be given the opportunity to start this program in Venezuela because I see that it can be a great potential for the Venezuelan educational system in terms of sports.”
The First Shuttle Time Course in Venezuela was held with the support of Venezuelan Olympic Committee, the National Institute of Sports and the Ministry of Sports of Venezuela.
