The #WhiteCard universally symbolises the peace-through-sport movement and a related global digital initiative which highlights promotional activities on the day.
At the United Nations (ONU) Headquarters in New York, on August 23, 2013, the UN General Assembly declared the International Day of Sport for Peace and Development (IDSDP) on April 6, a decision that marked a step transcendental in recognizing the transforming power of sport and its great potential in promoting a positive social change.
This day is celebrated every year worldwide by international, regional and national sports and development organizations, to recognize the role that sport plays in society, which promotes the adoption of healthy lifestyle habits, making sport a more accessible to everyone or using sport as a vehicle for the development of vulnerable areas due to conflicts, poverty and inequality.
