Pan Am players from Brazil, Canada, Cuba and Guatemala will compete for the gold medals of the XXIII Pan Am Individual Championships 2019 held in Aguascalientes Mexico.

Earlier today, young Brazilian athletes Fabricio Farias and Jaqueline Lima made it to the final after beating experienced Canadian duo Nyl Yakura / Kristen Tsai (24-22 and 21-19). Farias and Lima will face Joshua Hurlburt-Yu and Josephine Wu, who defeated compatriots Nicolas Nguyen and Alexandra Mocanu in semifinals (21-11 and 21-14). Wu will try to repeat the gold medal achieved last year, but this time with Hurlburt-Yu.
Kevin Cordon (GUA) and Osleni Guerrero (CUB) will meet again in a final. Guerrero beat Jason Ho-Shue (CAN) in the Semifinals after an exciting game (16-21, 21-19 and 21-16) and will seek to break the statistics that make Cordon the favorite for this final: 14 official games, 5 victories for Guerrero, 9 for Cordon.
For his part, Kevin comfortably beat the local Job Castillo (21-9 and 21-12) and will go for his third Pan-American Championships medal in the same year in which he could get his third gold medal in the Pan American Games (2011 and 2015).
Michelle Li goes steadily to get her fourth Pan-American medal, after beating Cristal Pan (USA) in semifinals. Now, Li will face compatriot Brittney Tam, who beat Jennie Gai (USA) 21-8, 14-21 and 21-18. Both athletes have met on 3 occasions, with two victories for Li and one for Tam, the same one that was in the Pan Am Championships of 2017.
Canadian duo Rachel Honderich and Kristen Tsai are close to getting a new gold medal and repeating the achievement of the latest edition. This time they will face Catherine Choi and Josephine Wu (CAN), who beat Sabrina Solis / Vanessa Villalobos (MEX) in Semifinals. The Brazilians Samia Lima and Jaqueline Lima also secured a bronze medal.
Osleni Guerrero and Leodannis Martinez also want to surprise in Men’s Doubles and, after defeating locals Luis Montoya / Andres Lopez, will face defending champions Nyl Yakura and Jason Ho-Shue in the final. Yakura / Ho-Shue beat Gareth Henry and Samuel Ricketts (JAM) in semifinals and remain safe on the road to gold.
The XXIII Pan Am Individual Championships 2019 will be played from April 25th to 28th at the Gimnasio Olimpico de Ciudad Deportiva de Aguascalientes, Mexico with outstanding players that are showing a preview of what we will experience at the Pan Am Games in Lima 2019.
