After the gold medal won at the XVIII Pan Am Games 2019, Ygor Coelho achieved a unique record: the only player who has won all the Pan Am crowns.
Pan Am Ranked No. 1, Ygor Coelho, is the only player in the history of the Pan Am badminton that has won gold in the Juniors U11 to U19, the Pan Am Championships and, finally, Pan Am Games.

Coelho, born on November 24, 1996 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, started in badminton in the Miratus project, his game spoke on the court and he was able to win the title in all categories.

In 2006, Brazil hosted the XIV Pan Am Junior Championship and Ygor, 9 years old, competed in U11 winning the triple crown: Singles, Men’s Doubles with Fabio Soares and Mixed Doubles with Lohaynny Vicente. This would be the beginning of a story full of gold medals.
His last participation in Pan Am Junior Championships was in 2013, where Mexico hosted the XXII Pan Am Junior Championship and Ygor, in U19, won his 12th Pan Am gold medal.
The important results he achieved and his outstanding style of play allowed him to reach the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games.
In 2015, Ygor participated in his first Pan Am Games , in Toronto, where he fell to defending champion Kevin Cordon in the Quarterfinals.
The Rio 2016 Olympic Games allowed him to continue growing in his game and be in the eyes of the whole world by being the first Brazilian to participate in the badminton competition at an Olympic Games.
Coelho was crowned Pan American champion in 2017 and 2018 by winning the Pan American Championships played in Cuba and Guatemala respectively.
2019 saw the Brazilian hit the top of the podium in the most anticipated tournament of the year: Pan Am Games 2019.
Now, our Pan American champion continues to prepare for his next big goal: his second Olympic participation at Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, so he will participate in major events around the world such as the TOTAL BWF World Championships 2019 that will be held in Basel, Switzerland this month.
