Guatemala Junior International 2021 – Winners

Pan Am Junior players from Canada, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Guatemala won the medals of the Guatemala Junior International 2021.

From September 15 to 19, the VII Guatemala Junior International 2021 was held in Guatemala, a tournament that featured the participation of outstanding junior athletes from Canada, Costa Rica, El Salvador and the host Guatemala.

Canadian players Victor Lai and Sophia Nong won the crowns in Singles and Mixed Doubles.

Lai defeated players from El Salvador, Costa Rica and Guatemala for reach the MS final where he faced Yeison Del Cid (GUA), winning by 25-23 and 21-11. The podium was completed by Javier Alas (ESA) and Antonio Ortiz (GUA) who won the bronze medals.

Nong faced players from El Salvador and Guatemala, winning the WS final against Ana Gonzalez (GUA) by 21-6 and 21-17. Guatemalans Luisa Santizo and Mariana Palacios reached the 3/4 places of the event.

In Mixed Doubles, Canadian duo reached the podium top (featured image) after defeating duos from Guatemala and El Salvador. In the final, they faced Antonio Ortiz /Ana Gonzalez (GUA), winning the match by 21-18 and 21-15. Duos from El Salvador, Javier Alas / Daniela Hernandez and Marlon Mancia / Gabriela Barrios got the bronze medals.

Doubles podiums were won by the locals.

Yeison Del Cid and Antonio Ortiz were the best in Men’s Doubles where they defeated Javier Alas (ESA) and Jose Ochoa (GUA). Melvin Calzadilla and Marlon Mancia (ESA) got the bronze of the event. While in Women’s Doubles, Ana Gonzalez and Karolina Orellana defeated Mariana Palacios/Luisa Santizo (GUA) in the final. Gabriela Barrios/Margareth Revelo (ESA) and Arianna Rodriguez/Fabiola Solano (CRC) reached the 3/4 places.

After this VII Guatemala Junior International, Guatemala city will receive the VII Guatemala International Series, event of the Pan Am Circuit 2021 that will have outstanding players from the region looking for add points in the World Ranking.
