How did you meet badminton?
“A coach invited me to meet the badminton. I went, I liked it a lot and I learned the basics fast. I liked it a lot and that’s how I started training and I did not want to leave it.”

When did you say: yes, I will dedicate myself to badminton?
“When I realized that I could do it, that I could train hard and improve, I set out to represent my country internationally.”

Which is your biggest dream?
“I wanna be South American champion, then Pan-American and if possible, reach an Olympic Games.”

What is the best that badminton has given you?
“the best thing has been to know different places and people, and the experiences that I have lived. Also be able to see people of much more level and be able to learn a lot from them.”

What is the hardest part of being a high level athlete in Ecuador?
“In my case, sometimes, it is difficult for me to train because I study and then I have to go directly to train. If I go to my house it is very far, more than an hour away, and I would not be in time for training.”

Which are your goals for this year?
“My goal is to play a good role in the Pan American Games.”

Which do you prefer?

– Olympic Games or World Championships? “Olympic Games”
– Winter or Summer? “Winter”
– Sweet or salt?  “Sweet”
– Badminton player? “Kento Momota”

What message would you give to young people who are just starting to practice badminton?

“I would encourage them to play badminton because it is one of the fastest sports in the world. Doing sports helps you not go down bad roads. It is very good to play sports because it allows you to know other realities, when you travel to represent your country, and grow as a person.”
