Badminton in Cuba’s School Games

Badminton shone at the National School Games in Cuba, where badminton players and Para-Badminton players from 13 provinces, including La Habana, Holguin, Pinar del Rio, Santiago De Cuba, Camaguey, Granma, Villa Clara and Cienfuegos, offered their best game.

The National School Sports Games have been developing for 54 years and are the basis of Cuban sport beacuase some of the great athletes, who now represent the country in continental competitions, have been forged from there.

Badminton competitions had a Team Event, which was led by the province of Santiago de Cuba. Pinar Del Rio came in second and Cienfuegos and Camaguey won the bronze medals.

Likewise, competitions were held by modalities, where in Men Singles, La Habana won the gold medal, while in Women Singles, Santiago de Cuba was the champion province. In Doubles, Pinar Del Rio and Santiago de Cuba they won the gold medals in Men and Women respectively.

 

Para-Badminton was also present and the competitions divided by categories were disputed: SS6, SL3 – SL4 and SU5.

This event is the sport festival for children in Cuba, and with it a more complete development is sought through the benefits of clean, healthy and honest sports.
