Champion Team – Pan Am Junior 2022

USA, Canada and Brazil took the podium at the Team Event of the XXX Pan Am Junior Championships 2022, held in Santo Domingo.

Team USA got the Pan Am Junior Trophy for the second time in a row after defeating Canada in a tough final tie (3-2). The defending champion started the tie with a victory in Boys Doubles, Mar and Tang defeated Lock Wang in straight games. Ella Lin added the second point for USA after defeating Chloe Hoang in a exciting 3-games-match. Victor Lai gave Canada their first point after defeating Ryan Ma (2-0) and Kodi Tang/Ashley Yang won the Girls Doubles match to even the score (2-2). The tie was closed with a 3-games-match and a close victory of Ryan Ma and Chloe Ho for USA.

USA Team repetead the result got last year and won the gold medal being the best Junior Team this year.

Canada returns to the Pan Am Junior Championships this year after a break due the pandemic situation, reaching the silver medal of Event Competition.

Brazil won a tough bronze medal tie

The third place tie faced Brazil and Peru in always intense matches. Klerton Silva and Maria Julia Nascimento won the first match against Sharum Durand and Namie Miyahira, giving Brazil the first point of the final day. Peru equalized the score with Adriano Viale in the Boys Singles match but Juliana Vieira put Brazil ahead on the scoreboard once again. Sharum Durand and Adriano Viale managed to win the 4th match and let the define the tie in the Girls Doubles match. Maria Julia Nascimento and Juliana Vieira did a best game and defeated Rafaela and Fernanda Munar, closing the tie with Brazil in the third place of the podium.

The Award Ceremony was led by Mr. Vishu Tolan, Badminton Pan Am president, Mr. Zarko Cukic, Badminton Pan Am Events Deputy Chair, and Mr. Generoso Castillo, Vice-President of Badminton Pan Am and General Secretary of Dominican Republic Badminton Federation.

An award was given to the local Federation by Badminton Pan Am, in recognition of the organization of the event.

The 30th edition of the Pan Am Junior Championships now continue with the Individual Event from July 18 to 22, with live score system and live streaming.
