Champion Team – Pan American Cup 2023

Canada team won the Pan American Cup 2023, Mixed Team Continental Championship, that was held in Guadalajara, Mexico, from February 16 to 19.

Canada, led by experienced coach Mike Butler and outstading players like Michelle Li, Nyl Yakura, Rachel Honderich, among others, started the tournament as a defending champions and rised the Pan American Cup 2023 for second time.

The champion team won every tie they faced. In Group A Canada defeated Ecuador (5-0) an El Salvador (5-0) to reach Semifinals where they faced Mexico winning by 3-0 to reach the Final. Ty Lindeman/Josephine Wu, Brian Yang and Nyl Yakura/Adam Dong won the three first matches of the Final against USA and gave to Canada the victory at the Pan American Cup 2023.

USA reached the second place after defeating Mexico (3-2) and Argentina (4-1) in group stage, and Brazil (3-1) in Semifinals but losing in the Final against Canada.

Brazil won the bronze medal after defeating Guatemala (4-1) and Peru (4-1) in group stage to reach Quarter Finals where they defeated Guatemala (again after draw) 3-2. In Semifinals, Brazil lost against USA but defeated Mexico (3-2) in the Third place match.

Local team, Mexico, showed great performance in their ties, with players like Luis Montoya, Job Castillo and Ramon Garrido.

Guatemala, led by the olympian Kevin Cordon, reached the fifth place of the event with exciting victories of Cordon, Cordon/Anibal Marroquin and Jonathan Solis/Diana Corleto.

Ecuador is the 6th team in the general Ranking of the Pan American Cup 2023. They faced this event with 4 players who showed great performance.

Peru, Argentina and El Salvador faced each other for the 7th to 9th positions, being Peru the winner of this group, while Argentina and El Salvador was the 8th and 9th of the Pan American Cup 2023 respectively.

The Award Ceremony was led by Mr. Vishu Tolan, president of Badminton Pan Am, Mr. Zakro Cukic, BPAC Events Deputy Chair and Mr. Javier Orozco, president of Mexico Badminton Federation. During the ceremony recognitions to Referees team, Assesors and Local Organizing Committee were given.
