From September 22 to 26, Guatemala city hosted the VII Guatemala International Series 2021, Pan Am Circuit event that had the participation of players from Canada, Mexico, United States, India, Croacia, and Guatemala.
Olympian Kevin Cordon showed why he is the 4th best MS player of Tokyo 2020. Starting as seeded 1, Cordon defeated players from Canada and Mexico to reach the final, where he faced the champion of the Guatemala Junior Internationalheld last week, Victor Lai (CAN), winning the match in straight games (21-13, 21-11). Job Castillo (MEX) and Ruben Castellanos (GUA) reached semifinals and won bronze medals.
Josephine Wu, olympian player from Canada, won the crown in Mixed Doubles with Ty Lindeman after defeating seeded one duo Jonathan Solis/Diana Corleto (GUA) in Semifinals and Joshua Yuan/Allison Lee (USA) in the final. Solis/Corleto and Christopher Martinez/Mariana Paiz (GUA) won the bronzes.
Jennie Gai (USA) won the WS crown showing a great gamee during each match. Gai defeated players from Guatemala, Mexico, USA and India, winning all her matches in staright games. Samayara Panwar (IND) reached the silver medal, while
Francesca Corbett (USA) and
Alejandra Paiz (GUA) won the bronzes.
Ty Lindeman won another gold medal in Men’s Doubles. He along with
Kevin Lee (CAN) defeated seeded 2 duo,
Christopher Martinez /Ruben Castellanos (GUA), in Semi-finals, and seeded 1 duo,
Jonathan Solis /Anibal Marroquin (GUA), in the final.
Vinson Chiu/Joshua Yuan (USA) and Castellanos / Martinez, reached 3/4 places of the event.
Women’s Doubles Champions of the Pan Am Junior 2021 and silver medalist of Pan Am 2021,
Francesca Corbett and
Allison Lee (USA) won the gold in this event. They defeated duos from Guatemala to reach the podium top.
Pamela Gonzales and
Karolina Orellana won the silver medals while
Alejandra and Mariana Paiz reached the third place.
The Pan Am Circuit 2021 continues in Dominican Republic with the
V Santo Domingo Junior International 2021 and the
III Dominican Open 2021,
where Pan Am Players will compete for the medals and reach more points in the World Ranking.
