Four countries of America shared the titles at the XII Suriname International Championships 2018, when Guatemala’s Kevin Cordon (in Men’s Singles), Peruvians Daniela Macias and Danica Nishimura (in Women’s Doubles), Jamaicans Anthony Mcnee and Dennis Coke (in Men’s Doubles) and Dominicans Cesar Brito and Bermary Polanco (in Mixed Doubles) were crowned champions of the event that took place in the Ring Sport Center of Paramaribo, Suriname.
With this Cordon’s victory against Elías Brache (BEL) by 21-13 and 21-15, the also Central American and Caribbean champion adds his fourth title of the year. Kevin reached Finals after beating seeded 1 Maxime Moreels (BEL) in Semi-Finals by 21-19 and 21-19.
Peru’s duo Macias and Nishimura won their third title of this 2018 by beating Diana Corleto and Nikte Sotomayor (GUA) by 21-10, 21-12 in the final. Local duo Santhusha Ramzan / Jill Sjauw-Mook and Monyata Riviera / Tamisha Williams (BAR) won the bronze medals.
Anthony Mcnee and Dennis Coke (JAM) achieved their first crown at Pan Am Circuit 2018 after won Men’s Doubles final against Jonathan Solis and Rodolfo Ramirez (GUA) by Walkover. Shae Michael / Dakeil Thorpe (BAR) and Denzel Sweet / Alain Toney (SUR) were in third place after reached Semi-Finals.
The other new champions were the Dominican duo Cesar Brito and Bermary Polanco when winning in the Mixed Doubles final against Mitchel Wongsodikromo (SUR) and Katherine Wynter (JAM) by 21-10, 21-16. Bronze medals were for Barbados duos Bradley Pilgrim / Monyata Riviera and Dakeil Thorpe / Tamisha Williams.
The remaining modality (Women’s Single) was won by the Belgian Lianne Tan, who won the final match against Daniela Macias by 21-10, 21-6. Diana Corleto and Nikte Sotomayor won the bronze medals.
Pan Am Badminton Circuit will continue with the I Dominican Open, starting on Wednesday, November 28 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
