Champions in El Salvador – Pan Am Circuit 2019

Athletes from Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, United States and host El Salvador won medals at II El Salvador International 2019, held in San Salvador from December 3 to 8.

Daniela Macias defended the title she got in the first edition of this tournament and, this time, defeated players from El Salvador, Guatemala and Mexico to win the crown. Macias did the same in Doubles with Danica Nishimura after defeating Ana Albanes/Sara Barrios (GUA) in the final.

Guatemala’s players took all podiums. Jonathan Solis won gold medals in Doubles, with Anibal Marroquin, and in Mixed Doubles, with Diana Corleto. They got the silver and bronze medals in all Doubles events and bronze in both Singles Events.

Haramara Gaitan, with a silver in Singles, and Job Castillo, with bronze in Men’s Singles added medals for Mexico.

El Salvador Star

Uriel Canjura surprised own and strangers after won the crown in his country. He ‘defended the house’ and climb to the podium top after defeating outstanding athletes from Guatemala, Panama, Cuba and USA.

The 19 years-old-player faced olympic athletes Osleni Guerrero in Quarter Finals, reaching a great victory in a 3 games-match. (19-21, 21-11, 21-19), then, in Semifinals, Uriel defeated Ruben Castellanos in straight games and in the final, Uriel got a special victory against other olympian, Howard Shu, in a tough match 21-11, 11-21, 21-139 but with the satisfaction of obtaining his first international crown this 2019.

Also, outstanding athletes from El Salvador reached a great results with bronze medals to Katherine Lara in Singles, Victor Garcia/Jose Orellana and Wendy Recinos/Lucero Rodriguez in Doubles.
