Champions in Trinidad & Tobago – Pan Am Circuit 2023

Pan Am players filled the podiums of the Trinidad & Tobago International 2023, Pan Am Circuit event held in Tacarigua, from August 22 to 27.

Samuel Ricketts and Tahlia Richardson (JAM) won the gold medal in Mixed Doubles. Starting as seeded 1 duo, they defeated duos from Trinidad & Tobago and Canada to reach the final where they won by Walkover against Akili Haynes and Priyanna Ramdhani (GUY). Bronze medals were for Sameer Ali/Janiah Boodoosingh (TTO) and Imra Wadia/Jeslyn Chow (CAN).

Eliana Zhang (CAN) won 2 gold medals in this event. In Women’s Singles, Zhang defeated players from Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname, Mexico and Peru to reach the final where she faced seeded 1, Vanessa Garcia, winning by 21-17, 21-18. Fernanda Saponara (PER) and olympian Nikte Sotomayor (GUA) reached the bronze medals position.

In Women’s Doubles, Eliana along with Jeslyn Chow (CAN) won the 1st place after only playing one match. They won in QuarterFinals by Walkover, defeated local duo in Semifinals and won the final match by Walkover due an injury of Priyanna Ramdhani (GUY) who got the silver medal along with Monyata Riviera (BAR). Cheyenne Bhola/Shivani Koonj-Beharry (TTO) and Shari Hope/Sabrina Scott (BAR) reached the 3/4 places.

Mark Shelley Alcala (USA) won the Men’s Singles title after defeating players from Luxemburg, Trinidad & Tobago, Switzerland, Germany and Mexico. Luis Ramon Garrido (MEX) won the silver medal while Victor Lai (CAN) reached the bronze medal.

Ryan Ma (USA) and Daniel Zhou (CAN) won the Men’s Doubles match after defeating Kelvin Koon Fung (ENG)/Samuel Ricketts (JAM) in the final. Local duos Boodram/Ramsumair and Ramsubhag/Sinanan reached the 3/4 places of the event.

The Pan Am Circuit 2023 will continue with the III Mexico Future Series 2023 this week.
