Champions of Mexican International Challenge 2021

Pan Am Players from Mexico, Canada, United States and Brazil won medals at the I Mexican International Challenge, held last week in Aguascalientes, Mexico.

This tournament, which is part of the Pan Am Circuit 2021, took place at Sport City of Aguascalientes from September 1st to 5th.

Young Mexican Star, Luis Montoya won one gold and 2 silver medals in this competition.

In Men’s Doubles, Montoya along with Job Castillo, defeated duos from Brazil, United States and Canada to reach the podium top. Enrico Asuncion and Vinson Chiu got the silver medal, while B.R. Sankeerth/Ramnish Kumar (CAN) and Andres Lopez/Lino Muñoz (MEX) reached bronze in this event.

In Mixed Doubles, the champions were Vinson Chiu and Jennie Gai (USA) after defeating Luis Montoya and Vanessa Villalobos (MEX) in the final. Brazilian duos Da Silva/Lima and Voigt/Santos got the bronze medals during this event.

In Singles, Luis Montoya defeated athletes from Mexico, Brazil and Belgium to reach the Semifinals, where he faced Olympian Lino Muñoz and defeated him in 2 straigh games, reaching the finals. Luis Enrique Peñalver (ESP) won the final and B.R. Sankeerth (CAN) and Lino Muñoz (MEX) reached 3/4 places.

Spanish athletes won the crowns in the female side. Beatriz Corrales won the gold and Clara Azurmendi the silver in Singles, while both players reached the first place in Women’s Doubles event. Jennie Gai (USA) was the only Pan Am Athletes who reached bronze in WS, while Nicole Frevold/Katelin Ngo (USA) and Romina Fregoso/Miriam Rodriguez (MEX) did the same in Women’s Doubles.

The Pan Am Circuit 2021 continues with the Brazil International Series 2021, where Pan Am Players will compete for the medals and reach more points in the Ránking.
