Yesterday the third day of the Para-Badminton World Championships was played and our region athletes Giuliana Poveda, Pilar Jauregui and Marcelo Alves Concecao continue in the race that will be played in a few hours on Saturday 25 (Korea time).
The peruvian Giuliana Poveda, champion of the 2017 World Dwarf Games, reached semi finals in women doubles in the SS6 event. Today, along with her partner Randika Doling (SRI) will face the english pair formed by Rebecca Bedford and Rachel Choongsu in search of gold, while the other two couples who also reached the semi finals are the Polish Daria Bujnicka / Oliwia Szmigiel and Maria Bartusz (POL) / Emma Farham (IRE), who will play at the same time.
In the Mixed Doubles event, accompanied by Niall Mc Veigh (IRE), Giuliana will also face Fabien Morat (FRA) / Rebbeca Bedford (ENG) at semi finals, while in Women Singles, Giuliana has already reached the quarter finals and this time will condfront her women doubles partner, Randika Doling from Sri Lanka, to get one step closer to gold in a few hours.
The Brazilian Marcelo Alves Concecaio and his partner Atsuya Watanabe (JAP) won their 3 matches, the first one against the English duo Owen Kilburn / Gobi Ranganahan, 21-10, 21-10, the second match against Avni Kertmen / Aslan Sahim (TUR), our athletes prevailed 21-13, 21-13, and in their third game they easily won the Australians Grant Manzoney / Duke trench-Thiedeman, 21-2, 21-3. Today, at first round, they will face the pair from India Prem Kumar Ale and Sanjeev Kumar, finally, Pilar Jauregui (Peru), will play against Xu Ting Ting (CHI) in quarter finals.
