Since I was little I have always been a fan of sports. I am the third daughter of four children and we have always been a united and loving family. Since I was little I practiced various physical and cultural activities and when I came across badminton I totally changed my lifestyle, giving it priority as my main activity of the day.

During high school my PE teacher invited us to various activities to play. One day we went to a competitive badminton event without knowing what it was or how it was played. It was new and challenging.
What impressed me when I played it for the first time is that when it becomes competitive it is very challenging in each shot; and as a spectator you can see each player brings their personality to their style of play and their true essence comes out.

I am thankful that I have been presented with opportunities to develop myself in different aspects of badminton. As a player I went to some national events, and I really didn’t feel sure of what I was doing and I wanted to have more skills to win. Now that I know what an athlete should have, I understand that I still had a lot to learn. I find myself in a different stage of badminton and I’m enjoying it.
As a coach I consider I have been very lucky to be able to get to know coaches from other parts of the country and some from other countries.
Umpiring has given me unforgettable experiences meeting incredible people from different parts of the world. I’ve found companions and made great friends; a badminton lover will see everyone else in the sport as family.

What makes badminton different from other games is the level of complexity that is handled at the same time. On the one hand you must be in extraordinary physical condition, a balanced emotional state, along with game prediction skills in very short decision-making time. Apart from that, you must make sure you do the technical movements well to be more efficient and save energy as much as possible.

It has evoked curiosity in the most intrepid PE teachers, as well as undergraduate students who want to learn new sports and gives them confidence and security because they will learn from a sport that, in addition to providing them with many tools, can lead to certified endorsement as a badminton instructor. It gives added value to the student’s curriculum and encourages them to continue taking courses and training during and after their college career.

The biggest lesson is that although not all students engage in badminton as a lifestyle, they will have enjoyed badminton and will share it with joy. At some point there will be one or two who do dedicate themselves entirely to badminton, and we will have changed someone’s life by adding them to the badminton family.
