  1. At what age did you start in Badminton and how did you get into this sport?

“I started playing at the age of 7, my sister was a coach and I just played for fun. When I begun to grow, I started to compete and after the good results, I dedicated to badminton.”

  1. In how many tournaments did you participate and which have been your best results?

“I have participated in more than 80 tournaments and my best result was to win the bronze medal in the Pan American Games in Toronto 2015.”

  1. To how many countries has badminton taken you?

“I think I have traveled to 30 countries, almost all of America, some in Europe and Asia and one in Oceania.”

4. What anecdotes come to your mind when you remember your trips?

“I have many anecdotes, but the worst of all was to be in Brazil and have forgotten my shoes in Mexico, fortunately Yonex, the brand that sponsors me, gave me a pair of shoes but one size bigger than mine …. in the match the shoes came out but I could win the match.”

  1.  How does it feel to be one of the best players in Mexico?

“It feels very good. In Mexico, badminton is not so popular but the competition is very strong and you have to fight hard to be one of the best, it really worth the effort.”

  • What are your short and medium term objectives as a badminton player?

“Win a medal in singles and doubles in the Pan American Games this year and also in the Central American games, later go to the Olympics.”

 

  1. Do you perform other activities in parallel to your career as a badminton player, such as studies or work?

“I study International Business, I have one more year to finish my career.”

  1. How sacrificed is it to train and study at the same time?

“Is very difficult, I wish the day had more hours and the week more days … fortunately, I do well in the studies.”

  1. How do you keep the commitment and discipline in your life?

“It have taught myself to be very disciplined, discipline is fundamental for sport and life.”

 

  1. In addition to sport satisfactions, what other things did badminton give you?

“In fact, many things…, know other countries, make friends around the world and be able to leave my comfort zone and try something new.”

  1. Which are your favorite hobbies?

“I like to play soccer and go to the movies to watch gangster movies.”

  1. Who was your first coach?

“My sister Sara Castillo.”

  1. What club do you represent?

“Code Jalisco.”

  1. Is badminton popular in your country?

“Not much, but it is growing.”

  1. Have you ever played in the Junior Pan Am Championships?

“I have played in 3 opportunities, I got a silver and a bronze medal”.
