Para badminton champion, Cintya Oliveira has faced different situations since she decided to be the best in our sport, but that has not stopped her from continuing to succeed, to know many countries and to be one of the best players in the world in her category.
Cintya practices Para badminton for more than 7 years, and today we can know a little more about her sporting career, the goals she has and how she managed to stand out in our sport.
“I met Para badminton through coach Aline Miranda, who had a project with Unipar University, and the Para badminton showed me a completely different world, it was as if I had opened my eyes to a new world, from culture, education, it made me leave my simple reality and travel, meet people and new things.”
Number one in the SU5 Pan Am Ranking, Cintya won a new crown in the Pan Am Para badminton Championship 2018 held in Lima, both singles and doubles and dreams big because she has given her life to the sport and wants to be in the best competitions of the world.
“Para badminton is my profession today, but my biggest goal at the moment is the 2020 Paralympic Games.“
However, not everything has been easy in the sport career of Cintya. Especially in the beginning, she had to face many difficulties to generate opportunities in our sport. And is important to have clear convictions to immerse yourself in the sport and strive to continue growing.
“I faced several problems. Being an athlete is not easy, it is also very difficult to have money from the beginning to participate in all the competitions, My mom had to pay many things so that I can get to where I am now. We sold pizza to get to participate in the competitions, we did bingo, raffles, everything so that I could compete and it took us a long time to get to where I am today, but with effort we were able to achieve it.”
Even in spite of the issues, Cintya found new ways to get ahead and, with the support of her family and coaches, not give up. These facts left her many life lessons but also encouraged her to move forward and achieve her dreams despite the difficulties.
“Sport is not easy! It is very selective, mainly with women, there will always be difficulties, but it is necessary that women like me, who love sports, take risks and dedicate themselves to sports, so it will be easier for some the others.“
