During the second week of August (16 to 23th), 18 athletes and 6 coaches from Guadeloupe, Haiti, Martinique & French Guiana gathered together at the Lycee Nord Grand Terre de Port-Louis in Guadeloupe for a 5 day training camp.
Athletes went into double daily sessions to improve their skills under supervision of coach Didier N. while coaches, under the expertise of coach Guillaume G., worked following the BWF Coach Level 1 Manual to strengthen their knowledge on how to prepare and handle training sessions.
Effort made possible by the Guadeloupe Badminton League, Francophone Badminton Association and Badminton Pan American Confederation.
After full training sessions and shared experiences, the activity ended up with a mixed team tournament amongst participants.
MA’s presidents meeting
Taking advantage of the activity, on August 18th a meeting with the participation of presidents of the associations from Martinique, Guadeloupe, Haiti, St.Lucia and French Guiana was held, which was a good opportunity to share the different activities held by Pan Am and to discuss the better way to grow badminton participation in their regions.
Was a good time for presidents to share their experience and to propose joined activities. After the meeting a visit to the training center was made to share time with the athletes and for the presidents to take some time to talk with the coaches in charge.
